- Heat — the biggest one. A bottle left on a warm bench loses more than most people expect.
- Light — keep it in its original container, away from direct light.
- Time — activity declines gradually even under good storage.
Handling habits that protect a batch
- Take the bottle out, dose, and put it straight back into cold storage.
- Never dilute in warm or chlorinated water.
- Never return diluted coagulant to the bottle.
- Label the bottle with the date it was opened.
